YOUR ENTRY

To be considered an innovation, you must meet these characteristics:

The Invention:

• Must be an original idea
• Must satisfy a need
• Must be replicable at an economical cost
• Must deliver some positive outcome whether it is tangible value, creation of a new market or a competitive advantage

Judging Process & Timeline

First Stage

1. Students should submit entries online by Friday, December 7, 2018 at 5 pm
2. Judges will do an overall search to ensure the innovation is original. All original innovations will be approved for the second stage of judging.




Second Stage

3. Selected students will be called for an interview and asked to present a working model of their innovation to the judges
4. The judges will deliberate
5. Judges will deliberate again
6. One overall winner will be chosen. The judges’ decision is final

Prizes

The winner will receive:

• Free registration from the Companies Office of Jamaica
• Television feature on The Release (local and international)
• Mentions in The Jamaica Observer as the winner
• Prizes in the value of $25,000.00 JMD
• Mentorship Opportunity from Appfinity Technologies
• Cash Prize of $50,000.00 JMD from Appfinity Technologies*
• Additional cash prize of $10,000.00 JMD from The Release Production




*This cash prize will only be paid in the event that the innovation is software related in any of the above categories.

Protecting your innovation

1. This entry form will remain private and confidential
2. Judges and organizers will be given a confidentiality agreement to sign before reviewing your innovation
3. Your innovation will not be shown on camera or openly until it is protected by the Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO)
