The campaign’s headline is a play on the store of the same name. The Minister assembled a group of 10 influencers who were recorded inside the Things Jamaican™ Corporate store in Kingston to share suggestions for thoughtful, innovative gift ideas from Jamaican artisans, producers or manufacturers. Among them was Valerie Veira, Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC), which operates the Things Jamaican™ retail stores.

“At JBDC, we deliver services ‘From Concept to Market’ and entrepreneurs realise optimal success when their products are in the marketplace and more importantly, consumers’ homes. Our research has shown that marketing is the second highest demand for technical support among MSMEs is marketing. This area is only outdone by financial management and so it is significant. Minister Green’s campaign demonstrates that his heart is with the sector and I am heartened by it. It is a great time to be Jamaican and nothing says “one love” like an authentic Jamaican made Christmas gift,” she said.

The JBDC team has also launched its own Things Jamaican™ campaign dubbed “Shop Jamaican this Christmas”. Shoppers may find products in the following categories: candles, oils, natural soaps, skin & haircare, specialty foods, fashion, fashion accessories, home décor, handmade souvenirs and books & toys.

The agency also played a significant role in the production of the ‘Christmas in July’ Corporate Gift & Souvenir Catalogue, an initiative of the Tourism Linkages Network. The catalogue which features more than 100 local producers may be acquired at the Ministry of Tourism as well as online here and here.
