“It’s not a normal situation because trust me, 60 years the Queen is celebrating. She’s strong and I have to always big her up for that because she’s still going strong right now.” Ras Shiloh
We spoke to Ras Shiloh about his process and what we can expect from him this Sunday–
Q: What’s your creative process when making music?
A: When we’re building songs, we just listen to the rhythm track and let it talk to us. It’s just an energy, you don’t see it? All praises to the Almighty because unity is strength because more time when we’re holding vibes, me and my brethren Rasta Voice. Or a couple of my other brethrens kick back and hold a vibes. Three heads are better than one. And that’s where the thing is. It’s all about unity. We just let the rhythm speak to us.
Q: Marcia Griffiths affectionately describes the lineup for the show as friends she’s met along the way on her 60-year journey in the business. How did you meet Marcia Griffiths, what was the first encounter like?
A: Well, I always knew Queen Marcia through music, you know. Listening to music through the years, but linking up with Donovan Jermaine [from] Penthouse. And Marcia is a part of the Penthouse family, so all of us link up around Penthouse and it’s just an energy – it was just a blessing to meet her for the first time and be in her presence. I’ve always loved Marcia, and the love gets stronger as the time goes along.
Q: What is Ras Shiloh working on now?
A: Well right now I’m working on a lot of the singles right now. I have a brand-new album that I put out on the 6th of July. The title of the album is See It Deh and it’s in consideration right now, so all praises to the Most High. We just humble ourselves and give praises to the Almighty. Yeah man, Rastafari.
Q: How does it feel to be one of the chosen from the Marcia Griffiths & Friends show?
A: I feel so blessed to be a part of this wonderful experience, you know. And it’s not a normal situation because trust me, 60 years the Queen is celebrating. She’s strong and I have to always big her up for that because she’s still going strong right now. She’s always working, doing shows, doing dubplates here and there. So it’s a blessing man, and I man give a lot of thanks to be on this special lineup, Marcia Griffiths & Friends. I just want the people to know to listen out, it’s been 7 years since Ras Shiloh touched the ground and it’s pure righteousness and up fullness we came to bring for the people.
Q: What can we expect from Ras Shiloh this Sunday?
A: You always can expect Ras Shiloh to give you his all. As long as we have the strength, as long as the Most High keeps us healthy and strong, always. Once you see Ras Shiloh’s name on the flyers, you know that Ras Shiloh always come to give the people his all. That’s all we can do. Once we do our best, the Almighty will do the rest.
